If you've ever been to Evanston, you'll understand why I say it has appeal. There is something about it's small town charm, the Northwestern campus, the lake, the homes, the people. It's a nice little getaway so close to Chicago. We find an excuse to visit Evanston every few months. Just recently, we went to SPACE for a show and passed Dollop on our way home. It automatically went on our Coffee Shop "to do" list.
We got there around 9:45 on a Sunday morning without knowing what to expect. We found out quickly as the energy went from fairly quiet to completely chaotic within 15 minutes. It was as if the entire city of Evanston decided to meet at Dollop for coffee at 10:00 am sharp. We quickly snagged two stools at the bar, and we watched as a constant line of people ordered what it seemed like unlimited amounts of coffee, pies, Rishi tea and breakfast goodies for the next hour. The chaos was welcomed by all, which made for an upbeat Sunday morning. We definitely had our fair share of people/food watching for the weekend and we're looking forward to trying out the other Dollop locations!
